Assertion 1.8: The moon would have a 180-foot meteoritic dust layer if it were billions of years old.

Analysis:

The calculation that led to the prediction of such a deep dust layer was based upon a speculative estimate of influx of meteoritic dust that has since been proven false. The actual influx of dust is considerably smaller, and consistent with actual observations. (Ecker 1990:183). The young-earth creationist organization Answers in Genesis now disavows the meteoritic moon dust layer argument as an argument that should definitely not be used".
